Training Tip with Carrie: Annoying Things Part 2

Listen in as Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, shares Annoying Things part 2 of 4. Carrie continues a lighthearted series about annoying things that people say to runners or that runners do. Raise your hand if you’ve heard this one.

“Hey everybody, I’m Carrie Tollefson, your National Fitness Director at Moms on the Run and also a U.S. Olympian. And today, we are still talking about annoying things that people say to us as athletes, as runners and walkers, or the annoying things that we do.

And one of the things that I do find annoying is when people say, ‘Don’t your knees hurt from all of the running that you do?’ And you know what? At times my knees do hurt, but usually it’s because I’ve been working my quads or my hamstrings or my glutes are tight. There’s a reason why and then I address it, but my knees are better off because I am active.

And so it annoys me because I don’t want running or walking to get a bad rep. Like, you know what? This is good for us. So, I believe in it.

And so, yeah, I get annoyed when people talk about my knees, unless I really have an injury, then let’s address it and talk about it that way. But my knees are better off because of the run.”
