2026 Most Inspirational Member: Debbie Gromer

We have so many amazing members at Moms on the Run, and we know everyone has a story. Most of our journeys go through valleys and mountaintops, and we honor those who have endured valleys this year and celebrate those who have reached mountaintops — both figuratively and literally. Our favorite award to present every year is our Moms on the Run Most Inspirational Member of the Year.

We are honored to present our 2026 Most Inspirational Member award to Jacksonville Moms on the Run member Debbie Gomer. Debbie has overcome some HUGE obstacles this year: she was diagnosed with breast cancer and took immediate action with a double mastectomy and other cancer treatment. At the same time, her daughter-in-law was also diagnosed with cancer and has been battling her own treatments. Debbie managed to deal with her illness and hold up the family helping with her daughter-in-law’s treatment. With all this going on, she continued to work and, within a couple of weeks post surgery, to show up at MOTR class without fail, even when all she could do was walk slowly.

Jacksonville Moms on the Run Franchise Owner and Head Coach Amy Magdalein says, “Debbie is kind, shows selflessness and is someone everyone in our group looks to for support, guidance and friendship. Just a few months after surgery, she is back on the road with us training for a PB at the Savannah Historical Half Marathon in November and we know she will crush it!”

Her Assistant Coach Christy shared, “she helped us lead classes in a pinch and has attended classes regularly through her treatments. So many women are deserving of this nomination, but this member’s involvement and continued support of other members is a testament to her commitment to MOTR and to her own health and fitness. We love her and continue to pray for healing!”

Congratulations Debbie and we’re so honored you are a part of our Moms on the Run family.
