Today, our National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, grants you permission to…REST! Zero miles. Relax. Have fun. Listen in on why it’s important to include a rest day and what the difference is between rest and recovery.
Hi, everybody. I’m Olympian Carrie Tollefson and also your National Fitness Director at Moms on the Run. And today’s Tuesday training tip, I want to talk to you about rest.
Rest is so vital when it comes to running and walking and trying to achieve our goals. We oftentimes forget that if we push the envelope all the time, we will either get injured or we’ll go into that state of fatigue that we can’t really dig ourselves out of. So, I am giving you every opportunity to take a rest day.
We need those days. We need recovery days. Now, what’s the difference between rest and recovery? Well, I think of rest as a day off. I think of recovery as an easy day.
So I am giving you permission to take those days with a big old zero. No mileage, no minutes, and just a rest day.
Go have some fun. Be a different type of athlete or just take the day off. It’s okay.
