Training Tip with Carrie: Heat, Humidity and Hydration

Today, Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson talks about the three Hs: heat, humidity and hydration. During training, you need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. This is especially true as the heat rises during the summer months. Remember, hydration is not only refueling with water but with electrolytes. Listen in!

Hi everybody, I’m Olympian Carrie Tollefson and also your National Fitness Director at Moms on the Run. And today’s Tuesday training tip, I want to talk to you about three Hs. Yep, heat, humidity and hydration.

All right, not everyone lives in a humid climate, I get it, but it is the summer and we need to remember that the heat is climbing, so is the humidity for those of us who live in humid places. Also, we need to remember to hydrate. So how do we do that? Drink more water, yes.

Have our electrolytes close, always. I want you to remember that. Water is great, but we need to have some electrolytes along with that.

We train really hard and we are getting ready for those races or we’re already racing. So let’s make sure that we’re refueling, we’re rehydrating, we’re doing all the things that we possibly can so we can keep getting after it in our classes, in our races, in our workouts and in life. So hydrate.
