Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, offers tips regarding race tactics for the beginning, middle and end of a race. Today’s video is part 3 — and the final — in our series and focuses on the push at the end of a race. Listen in and save this for the next time you’re headed for a finish line.

Hi everybody, I’m Olympian Carrie Tullison and also your National Fitness Director at Moms on the Run. And today’s Tuesday training tip, we’re gonna talk about the last part of the race.
So we’ve already heard about the very beginning where we think about our race plan after that gun goes off and we ease into the race. Then in the middle of the race, it’s where we start to attack it mentally. We get ready for when that pain sets in to start thinking positively. And then at the end, this is where we gotta push again.

Even though we’re tired, our muscles are screaming, our body wants to shut down, you almost wanna restart the race. Even just like think about going hard again for a little bit. Attack it because it’s gonna be over before you know it. So mentally we’re firing, physically we’re firing and we are spiritually just ready to get after it.

And that’s what you gotta do at the end of the race. You always finish races thinking, I could have done this better or I could have given a little bit more. So I’m telling you, if you can just dig in and grind it out, you will have those breakthroughs.
