Minneapolis-Lake Harriet Moms on the Run, we’re all about inspiring and transforming women (not just moms) through a lifestyle of fitness, fun and friendship. Whether you’re looking to walk, learn to run, or tackle another marathon, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Our coached group runs and workout classes cater to all fitness levels. The diverse range of workout classes, running plans, and half and full marathon training programs improves strength, flexibility, speed and endurance. But we’re not just about fitness – it’s about forging meaningful connections along the way.

SPRING/SUMMER SIGNATURE TRAINING

Our cardiovascular interval training classes for all levels include strength training, stretching and education. Our Learn to Run program will help you safely build up to your first 5k race. Walkers and experienced runners, improve your speed and endurance with an interval training schedule designed to maximize your fitness levels.

Our winter and spring/summer classes currently meet with Bloomington Moms on the Run. Some of these classes are offered in Richfield, Edina & South Minneapolis. Find additional class opportunities in Minneapolis at Lake Nokomis. We are looking to offer additional classes in the Lake Harriet area. If you are a certified trainer or coach looking to make a difference and inspire local women, please reach out! 

MINNEAPOLIS-LAKE HARRIET SPRING/SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE

30 minutes of Cardio + Strength & Stretching! These classes use cardio intervals to improve metabolism and cardiovascular fitness.  Beginning runners will learn to run, moving from mostly walking to running as they progress, with the goal of completing a 5K distance at the end of the season. Experienced runners will complete 30 minutes of interval training to improve their running speed and fitness levels, with workouts designed by our National Fitness Director.

This class meets at various locations around Bloomington.

Our specialty virtual class meets weekly via Zoom with Coach Stacy. 30 minutes to strengthen and tone!  Up the intensity of your weight training routine to build muscular strength and endurance, with a special focus on core training.  Modifications are available for all fitness levels. Recommended equipment: an exercise mat, resistance bands and weights (5 – 15 pound dumbbells).  Start time is subject to change.

Our weekly steady paced cardio workouts are designed to help participants build endurance and either increase their mileage, maintain their running base, or add in an additional interval workout.  Meet at various locations around Bloomington with the coaching team.

Start the day off right!  Beat the sunshine with us at Centennial Lakes Park in Edina with Coach Stacy.  Reflective gear and lights are required. 

Strength & Cardio Blast – Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30pm
This 50 minute class provides a great HIIT workout!  We keep you moving through a series of interval rounds of strength and cardio work with a variety of exercises to keep you engaged. We encourage you to bring two sets of dumbbells to maximize strength training, but will engage in a variety of body weight exercises as well. You will also get a great warm up and cool down as part of our workout experience.  This class meets with Coach Stacy at Olson Middle School, Bloomington.

Strong to the Core – Thursdays 6:00am or on demand

Early Bird Run – Fridays 5:45am
Start the day off right!  Beat the sunshine with us at Centennial Lakes Park with Coach Stacy.  Reflective gear and lights are required.

Polar Run – Saturdays 8:00am
Join us as we run the beautiful outdoor trails.  Includes a Twin Cities metro-wide Polar Run Club membership.  Meet at various locations around Bloomington with the coaching team.

Movement with Meghan – Sundays 8:30am
Movement with Meghan is a fun, low-pressure way to keep moving and stay connected all winter long. We meet near a local café for a walk, run, or movement option — walkers are always welcome, and runners can use this as a recovery day while still getting the accountability to get moving.

Choose the pace and distance that works for you, enjoy a social and scenic route with MOTR friends, and stick around afterward to warm up, connect, and grab refreshments if you’d like. It’s the perfect way to start your Sunday feeling energized, supported, and ready for the week ahead.  Meet at various locations around Bloomington.

COACH MAKARA

Makara grew up in Bloomington, MN, and has been running for almost 20 years. She is a Level 1 Certified Running Coach by the Road Runners Club of America and has been coaching for Girls on the Run Minnesota for nearly five years. Her favorite running distance is the half marathon and she’s completed two full marathons.

She is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and breaking down barriers to health and fitness, and is excited to become a part of team Moms on the Run! Outside of running she enjoys walking her dogs, trying new recipes, and reading.

COACH DEBI

Debi leads our Saturday endurance runs. She joined Moms on the Run in spring of 2016 and hasn’t looked back. She started running in her early 20s, but fell out of practice during graduate school. Debi tried many times to get back into a running a routine, but just couldn’t find the motivation to stick with it until joining the program. Moms on the Run provided the friendships and encouragement she needed to keep after it and she has run many 10Ks, 10-milers, and half marathons since.

Debi keeps busy as a middle school teacher by day, and in her free time loves reading, traveling, walking her dog, Berta, and hiking in the many beautiful state parks.

COACH STACY

MEET STACY

Hi, my name is Stacy Severson and this is my 9th year coaching with Moms on the Run!  My love of running really developed when I was in college. I was the kid in grade school… and then high school, who dreaded running a mile. I never felt like I “looked” like a runner since I’m 5 ‘3” (with shoes on) and have never been super thin. As I met more runners, I quickly learned that the running community is made up of all ages, shapes and sizes.  If you are working to get out there to run, no matter the pace, you’re a runner! I am not a speedy runner, but have lots of energy and endurance and love running 10 mile and half marathon distances.

FITNESS FOR LIFE

I enjoy staying active with my family playing some pretty epic hide and go seek tag, or in the warmer weather months a neighborhood game of kick ball or “ghost in the graveyard.” It can be challenging to fit fitness into your life when you work and have a family, so I get creative.  Sometimes this means running while my kids bike or doing obstacle courses at the park so we can get some strength training in. In addition, I also work full-time as Director of Enrollment Development at Augsburg University. ​

I coach with Moms on the Run for the amazing friendships, inclusive community of women, and incredible support! I love the diversity of women in our group and the variety of experiences they share. Seeing our members reach their goals is completely inspiring to me! I love being a part of helping others find joy in the journey and learn to love to run!

COACH STEPHANIE

Stephanie will be coaching the majority of our Virtual Yogalates & Yoga for Runners Classes. Stephanie is passionate about yoga and the health benefits it provides both physically and mentally.

Yoga has been a part of Stephanie’s life since 2005. She received her Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour certification in November 2014 and has been teaching ever since. She teaches Vinyasa, Hatha, gentle, myofascial release and kids yoga.

Stephanie creates a safe space, a welcoming environment and teaches from a place of compassion that allows students to explore powerful healing and growth.

Mother's Day weekend, May 9 or 10

You are officially invited to a Mother's Day weekend PARTY! Celebrate Moms — and strong women everywhere — at a special class and social event that will take place either Saturday or Sunday, May 9 or 10, at participating locations around the country. We will be meeting up locally to have a casual, all-levels, Moms on the Run style workout, followed by some refreshments and fun. Meet other like-minded local women and get some girlfriend time! You deserve it, Moms!

SPRING AND SUMMER
SIGNATURE TRAINING

Our signature training program lets you attend classes from 1 to 5 times per week. We strongly recommend choosing an interval class at least once a week, which includes a higher level of structure and support. From walkers to runners, women will start at their own level and progress throughout the season.

FALL

STRENGTH + CARDIO BOOT CAMP

Our strength and cardio boot camp offers a variety of workout options to help you get fit. We’ll help maximize your metabolism by providing run/walk high intensity interval training (HIIT) at your level. Enhance your fitness level by improving strength, muscle tone, speed and agility.

WINTER

POLAR RUN AND INDOOR TRAINING

Our Polar run offers you a way to maintain the running endurance you built up during the summer and fall, while staying accountable and motivating during the long, cold winter months.

We also host virtual and indoor strength-training classes.

MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON TRAINING PLANS

Moms on the Run offers training programs and social media groups to current customers who are training for a marathon or half marathon.

Our training plans have been designed by our National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson.

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

We have volunteer coaching opportunities for women who love running and have a strong interest in motivating others. Coaches receive free membership and other perks. Contact us today!
