OUR STORY OF MOTIVATED, DETERMINED MOMS

The Moms on the Run story began in 2008 in Forest Lake, Minnesota when a group of moms, led by Founder and CEO Karissa Johnson, met to exercise in a local park. The women decided they needed a new goal to spice up their post-baby fitness journey: a 5K race!

LEARN TO RUN

With a background in exercise science, a love for running and a desire to inspire others, Karissa created our signature Learn to Run curriculum—designed specifically for women starting or restarting their fitness journeys. What began as a simple run-walk program quickly expanded into a variety of workout classes and training programs for all fitness levels. And just like that, Moms on the Run was born.

Karissa understood firsthand how tough it can be to prioritize fitness. After having three babies in just four years, she experienced the struggle of watching her own workouts take a backseat. Her personal journey became the inspiration behind a supportive, flexible and encouraging fitness community built by moms, for moms.

THE MOTIVATION STORY CONTINUES

Since beginning to franchise in 2012, Moms on the Run has grew to currently numerous locations in multiple states and has served more than 5,000 women.

The mom running group’s support system of coach and team community has grown to include women of all ages (not just moms) and has been life-changing for many members. They say, “I couldn’t run around the block!” and are now running 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and more!

Today, we continue working to spread Moms on the Run to women across the country, helping them lead healthier lives and model active lifestyles. We strive to inspire the next generation of healthy families!
