Virtual Training & Community

During this surreal time we are so thankful for the community of women we have with Moms on the Run. In the midst of so much change, we are grateful to have some things stay the same...the feeling you get after a run, the support of like-minded women, and the dedication of your coaches. If a location is affected by a stay at home order, they will offer classes virtually. Some locations are offering virtual training in combination with face-to-face classes. Our virtual classes carry forward the same components that make our face-to-face classes so successful.

How Virtual Training Works

You may be surprised at how great connecting virtually can be. There is no commute, you get to join from the safety of your home, you still get to interact with people, and your post-workout coffee is only steps away.

Virtual Training technology setup and class structure

Technology Setup

Download Zoom
We will use Zoom to meet virtually. This free and easy technology will allow you to connect to our classes using your preferred device:
  • Smartphones, tablets, and Macs need to download Zoom prior to class
  • PCs will automatically run Zoom when you start your first class
We recommend using a larger screen such as a laptop or tablet for the best viewing experience.
Download Zoom
Instructor Emails the Link
You will get an email with the link to your class from your coach. The processes for distribution varies slightly from location to location, but your coach will clarify the process after registration. Make sure to add Moms on the Run to your contacts or "safe sender" list so our emails don't get caught in your spam, clutter, or promotional folders.

Class Structure and Expectations

Attendance will be taken at all classes to help you stay accountable to your fitness goals. The format and class offerings may vary based on your location, but below is the general routine for our classes:

Interval Classes

Pre-Run Check-In & Stretching
We'll use Zoom to connect virtually for dynamic stretching, coaching, and educational tips.

Go For Your Run
Head out for your run and follow the interval training schedule provided by your coach. Our workouts are structured using timed intervals so everyone will finish up at the same time regardless of pace.

Post-Run Check-In & Strength
We'll use Zoom to connect after the run for our instructor-led strength training session and stretching.

Endurance Classes*

Pre-Run Check-In & Stretching
We'll use Zoom to connect virtually for dynamic stretching.

Go For Your Run
Head out for your run for the length of time determined by your class schedule or coach.

Post-Run Check-In & Stretching
Grab a cup of coffee and meet back using zoom to chat and stretch together.

*Some franchise locations may choose other methods for checking in and holding each other accountable for endurance runs, such as Strava or private facebook groups.

Strength/Yoga

Our Strength Training and Yoga classes are instructor-led by a Moms on the Run coach. You will connect via Zoom and watch your instructor lead the workout live, or watch later on-demand if you can't make the regularly scheduled class meeting.

It was so much fun connecting with my MOTR family this morning on Zoom. It was a way to hold each other accountable and motivate each other. I can’t wait until we can run together again but being able to connect  on Zoom makes this quarantine not seem so bad.

Today's run was great! The accountability of connecting and warming up together at the beginning was great. During the run I stayed motivated by knowing I needed to make the post run "meet up" online. It was fun to hear how far people went and how they are doing throughout this tricky times. The use of technology was great to still feel connected with this amazing fun group! During times like this it is even more important to keep moving and I'm glad MOTR is getting creative to keep us connected and running!
