Meet Our Coaches

Maple Grove and Plymouth Coaches

Coach Lacey
Meet Coach Lacey
Lacey started running with Moms on the Run in 2016 but has had a lifelong relationship with running. After years as a head coach at our Minneapolis-Lake Harriet location, she has made the move to Maple Grove!

Her mantra the first day of 7th grade track was..."GO GO GO!" After running track competitively throughout high school career she transitioned to a more of a casual, "fitness" runner in college. But in her twenties started goal setting by running 1/2 marathons. She wants to share her passion for running, and to make it fun! She is adventurous, fun and loves to laugh, smile and give. She enjoys spending time with her two sons and any hobby that gets her moving, especially trips to the mountains for snowboarding!
Coach Denise
Meet Coach Denise
Denise started running in her late 30’s and has been an active member of Moms on the Run since 2015.

She likes to say, given her life experiences, “she wasn’t supposed to be a runner”, but she loves to break through barriers and wasn’t going to let anyone stop her!

Denise’s road to becoming a runner has never been easy, but it has always been worth it. She has had multiple set-backs along the way, but always comes back stronger. She credits the support of her friends and coaches in Moms on the Run with her ability to continue to grow and succeed. “MOTR meets you where you are, encouraging you to be strong and healthy wherever you are at in your journey, from novice to seasoned runner.  Together we celebrate each member for who they are and what they bring to the group.  We celebrate every break-through and stand with each other in every struggle, not only on the run – but in life, we’ve got each other’s back, we are truly a team.”

Denise incorporates all of her experiences into her coaching, from embracing strengths to facing weakness, encouraging runners to reach for their personal best, even if it is just a single step – all with a healthy dose of laughter along the way!
When not running, Denise is a music teacher, youth choral conductor, voice coach, and education and literacy consultant.  She is a wife and mother of two wonderful children, for whom she strives to set an example of healthy living and a balanced life.

Coach Lacey
Meet Coach Stacy
Hi, my name is Stacy Severson and this is my 7th year coaching with Moms on the Run!  My love of running really developed when I was in college. I was the kid in grade school… and then high school, who dreaded running a mile. I never felt like I “looked” like a runner since I’m 5 ‘3” (with shoes on), and have never been super thin.   As I met more runners, I quickly learned that the running community is made up of all ages, shapes and sizes.  If you are working to get out there to run, no matter the pace, you’re a runner! I am not a speedy runner, but have lots of energy and endurance and love running 10 mile and half marathon distances.  To date, I also have 10 full marathons under my belt.

I live in Burnsville with my husband, Matt, our two amazing kiddos, Mara (13) and Lucas (11), our dog Ruby and cats: Chloe, Thor, and Steve Rogers. (My kids are Avengers fans).   I enjoy staying active with my family playing some pretty epic hide and go seek tag, or in the warmer weather months a neighborhood game of kick ball or "ghost in the graveyard." I know how challenging it can be to fit fitness into your life when you work and have a family, so I get creative.  Sometimes this means running while my kids bike or doing obstacle courses at the park so we can get some strength training in. I work full-time as Director of Enrollment Development at Augsburg University.

I coach with Moms on the Run for the amazing friendships, community of women, and incredible support! I love the diversity of women in our group and the variety of experiences they share. Seeing our members reach their goals is completely inspiring to me! I love being a part of helping others find joy in the journey and learn to love to run!
