Kids on the Run
Kids on the Run is about promoting healthy kids and getting families active together! Director Stephanie VanHeel is passionate about family fitness and has created a great program that motivates children to love physical activity. All members of a family will be invited for one low price to enjoy an evening once a week of running and fitness geared towards grade school kids.
The statistics are grim. The childhood obesity rates are staggering. Phy Ed programs are being cut, recess time is insufficient, and our children's favorite pasttimes no longer involve movement. How do we get our kids to be physically active for the recommended 60 minutes a day? How can we get them excited about living a lifestyle of fitness?
Kids on the Run will provide you and your school age children the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of fitness and running together. It's a great option for kids who are not in organized sports to stay active. We will be doing cardio intervals that will include games and running on a safe path. We will also provide fun education and incentives to keep your kids motivated.
This class will be geared to children ages 5 to 12, and other family members are not required but welcome to participate. Younger children are welcome at their parents' discretion.
To register: This summer we expect to offer classes in Burnsville, MN, Bloomington, MN, Woodbury, MN, Blaine/Coon Rapids MN and Chippewa Falls, WI. Please contact the local MOTR program for more details.
Currently we are running trial classes in the Twin Cities area to explore expansion opportunities for Kids on the Run. We're looking for instructors to expand this program to new areas. If you would like to be on a mailing list for future KOTR programs or would like to be considered for our paid or volunteer coaching positions, please contact Steph VanHeel, StephVanheel@MomsOnTheRun.com.
