Whether you simply want a getaway with your gal pals or a way to take your running to the next level, a running retreat is both beneficial and fun. Moms on the Run is debuting its first run retreat this fall, led by our National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson. Carrie typically attends and speaks at three to four running retreats each year. Read more on our conversation with Carrie to find out why our running retreat will be worth your investment! ![]() Q: What is your favorite part about a run retreat? A: I love running retreats. It is a running vacation. To me that sounds like heaven! We run, relax, socialize, eat good food, learn a little, shop, relax again, and maybe run a little more! Q: Why should someone go? A: Who wouldn’t want to go? I think anyone would have fun going to a running retreat — whether you are new to the sport, trying to learn more about it, or just need some friends to bring the joy back into it and jumpstart the systems. Running retreats do that. Q: What makes this different from just attending class? A: A running retreat will have experts on hand to help with running-related questions and concerns and feature new topics and material to help you get the most out of your training and racing. We'll talk about mental training, nutrition, goal setting, strength and conditioning, along with how to stay healthy. Plus, we'll have lots of options for other activities, including yoga and hiking, a trip to a local vineyard, shopping, relaxing around the bonfire, and plenty of laughs. Q: How many running retreats/camps do you speak at or attend? A: I usually go to 3-4 adult running retreats a year and absolutely love them. It is so nice to relax and run with others that love to do the same. Just a weekend with the girls! Q: Describe daily runs, what to expect? A: Our daily runs will be done at the pace and distance you want but we will offer something for all levels. There are beautiful places to run in Alex so we are looking forward to enjoying the last bit of fall colors and take advantage of being together. Think of this as a mini vacation so we will meet you where you want when it comes to distance and pace. Runners and fitness enthusiasts of all abilities will come away both refreshed and eager to hit the trails. Our 2019 Run Retreat happens Nov. 8-10 at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, MN.
