At Moms on the Run, we're passionate about our belief that "healthy moms make healthy families." Jacksonville (FL) Moms on the Run member Andrea Benitez, who is training for her first marathon, recently shared this inspiring message regarding a conversation she had with her young daughter. Kudos to all of you who are modeling fitness and self care to your families and friends.
"My daughter rode her bike alongside me while I ran today. She asked me if I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and a runner. (She called me a runner! Like it’s just who I am and was always meant to be!) She also asked me if tomorrow is a “running day.” Even though she grumbles because I may not be there when she wakes up, I know I am teaching her an important lesson in self care, not selflessness. All too often women and mothers are encouraged to give up themselves to serve others, especially their children. What a gift we give them when they see us breaking that cycle. Moms on the Run plays such an important role in opening that world up to so many of us. Thank you."
