Now my oven mitt isn’t a magic wand, so I can’t just wave winter away for us. But, I can tell you about the next best thing -- a running event to celebrate the end of the winter. Yep, the Hot Dash 5K & 10 Mile on Saturday, March 24 at Boom Island in Minneapolis.
My big fella, Uncle Ed, and I are coming down from Up North for the race, so we’d be tickled to see you when we’re in town. We don’t like to toot our own horns, but Twin Cities In Motion, the nice folks who organize the event, even named us the “Official Relatives” of the Hot Dash.
You’ll have a great time giving winter a Minnesota goodbye. In addition to the races themselves -- and the Storm Creek quarter-zips and finisher medals everyone gets – there’s a free beer from Summit Brewing Co. and a serving of hotdish at the finish. (And, guess whose hotdish recipe they’re using – yours truly’s!) There will also be a live DJ and costume contests, plus the thing Ed can’t stop talking about – a genuine Minnesota meat raffle! We’ll have a gosh-darned feast for the nieces and nephews, if we’re lucky enough to win that!
Anywho, I sure hope you’ll come out and join the celebration. The 5K race is a perfect way get moving again with a short run that will fire you up for 2018. And, if your running is already cooking, the 10 Mile is a fine way to celebrate all the good, hard work you put in this winter.
