OUR Latest + GREATEST

Typically, on Training Tip Tuesday, we'd have our National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, share a training tip. Today, we have a special guest, Carrie's daughter Ruby, to introduce the topic of sleep. Sleep is vital for the health and wellbeing of our bodies. According to WebMD, most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Studies have shown many benefits associated with getting a good night's sleep: lower risk of heart disease, better concentration and productivity, greater athletic performance, preventing depression, strengthening immune system, and more. Whether you are participating in our MOTRvate challenge or not, we recommend at least seven hours of sleep to help your body recover and be ready for another day. Cheers to more Zs.

Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, is here to rev us up regarding our current MOTRvate28 challenge. Whether you are participating or not, these are great reminders for our general health: more fruits and veggies, avoid sweets and hydration, hydration, hydration! Turn up the volume for today's training tip! Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, has sleeping kids and a quiet house, but she is heading out for a run. In honor of our MOTRvate28 challenge happening the entire month of February, she wants to encourage YOU to get moving and earn those cardio and strength points. ![]() by Karissa Johnson, CEO and Founder, Moms on the Run It's MOTRvate time, and I'm excited for myself and for all the women in our program who are going to take great strides toward their health goals this month. I want to share with you all the reasons I love MOTRvate! I need to get MOTRvated! Truth is, I need external motivation. Turning health "chores" into a game just makes it more fun. I get POINTS for eating veggies? Yes, please! I'm only competing against myself Okay, so I get that there is a prize if I get the top score, but I have absolutely zero chance of winning. And it doesn't matter. I like the idea of setting my own "doable" goal each week and seeing if I can get there. My youngest son is highly competitive. I'm embarrassed to admit that there are certain athletic activities he doesn't want to participate in because "he can't win." Ugh, I would think I have failed as a parent if I didn't have two other more sensible children! While he's still learning, personally I find a high sense of accomplishment in setting small goals and getting them done, and this leaves me more motivated to reach the next goal even if it may be slightly more challenging. ![]() Whether you're a New Year's Resolution gal or just someone who needs ongoing goals to keep motivated, we're bringing back MOTRvate28, our 28-day (plus 1 for Leap Day!) healthy lifestyle challenge for the month of February.
