As Jackie built up her mileage and endurance, so too, did Gus. In early August, their family received the good news that his cancer had retreated by 80 percent. By the end of August, Jackie and Katherine crossed the finish line of their first ever 10K race, at the Moms on the Run 5K/10K, with Gus among the loudest in their cheering section.
Gus was able to resume school this month from home, with Jackie’s help. On October 9, she will run her first-ever 10-mile race, taking part in the Medtronic TC 10 Mile on Team “Go 4 Gus!” “All along, Jackie has inspired members of our MOTR group with her grace, courage and positive outlook on life,” Katherine adds. “Her commitment to personal fitness in the face of one of the most unimaginable moments for a mom -- the news that your child has advanced cancer -- will serve as an inspiration to all who know her for a long time to come.” Congratulations, Jackie, and thank you for inspiring ALL of us! Yes. We're 12 days into September and just now announcing the winner of the August 2016 #MOTRstrong Instagram contest. Please don't judge. We hosted the annual Moms on the Run celebration banquet, with phenomenal keynote Alisha Perkins. We watched hundreds of you cross the finish lines at the Second Annual Moms on the Run 5K/10K. And then back-to-school duties called many of us, whether we were sending kiddos off to school or hunkering down at home with new home school curriculum. But we're back and excited to announce our latest #MOTRstrong contest winner, for the month of August! Congratulations to Ashley of @ashleykapsnerrunning, who wins the “Women Run Together” package: 2 free registrations to the 10th annual Women Run the Cities (choose from 10-Mile Run; 10K Run 5K Run or Walk) and 2 WRTC 10th anniversary t-shirts ($165 value). Here are a few of Ashley’s #MOTRstrong posts, sharing what makes her feel connected, confident and STRONG: Thanks again to the following sponsors and partners for providing prizes to our four monthly contest winners during the 2016 spring/summer season: Canvas Health; Renewal By Andersen of the Twin Cities; Wellwomen Thrive; and Women Run The Cities.
