![]() Jacksonville, Fla. Moms on the Run member Cory Schaefer has endured a few stressors in the last several years: a job relocation from Wisconsin to Florida, a craniectomy on her 3-month-old to correct a birth defect, her mom diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past March, and a job loss in May. Because of Moms on the Run, she has not only endured those trials, but thrived — losing 70 pounds in the process.

Warming up before you exercise is the most important part of training, according to platinum sponsor Twin Cities Orthopedics. In their blog, "Warm up to perform, cool down to recover," TCO offers helpful tips on proper warmups and cooldowns. Be sure to prioritize both for successful training.
![]() *This is a change to our previously announced speaker, but you're going to love her! High performance coach, speaker, trainer and author Dr. Cindra Kamphoff motivates elite athletes, championship teams and business leaders to live and perform to their potential. She has even worked with the Minnesota Vikings and our originally announced speaker, Gabe Grunewald. (Watch Gabe's personal introduction message about Cindra here.) We are excited she will share her passion, energy and expertise in performance psychology with us as our 2018 Celebration Banquet keynote speaker. Cindra will help us master our mindset to become our best. In life, sports, and business, we experience adversity and challenges daily. Often what’s holding us back is not our talent or our skills, but our mind. With Cindra’s keynotes and trainings, entrepreneurs, athletes, corporate leaders, and high achievers (that’s you, mother runners!) learn more about how to overcome the odds, live with purpose, and play bigger to reach their ultimate best. @bamr.amber! Amber runs with Woodury Moms on the Run, and she wins a $100 Nutrition Pack from our platinum sponsor, UCAN. Her winning entry is pictured above. Congratulations, Amber!

Over the years, the advice to stretch before exercise was drilled into our heads. We'd hold a few stretches for 30-60 seconds, then be ready to go! Today, however, the type of stretching recommended as a warm-up has changed from static to dynamic stretching. Dynamic stretching — stretching while in motion — better prepares muscles for the activity or exercise. Owner Amy Magdalein and Coach Jennifer Stoner of Moms on the Run Jacksonville showed some dynamic stretches to Eden Kendall on River City Live, WJXT-4 TV. Watch it here!
