![]() In light of all the recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Moms on the Run want to share uplifting stories about what our members are doing to stay active, to continue to crush goals, and to remain in community as a team. If you or your team are doing something fun or unique or cool, please email us here. We'd love to share it with our members. Eau Claire Moms on the Run member Karla Mannhardt and her daughter ran 19 trail miles last weekend, dubbing it CoRUNA-19, for our "Your Place, Your Pace" Virtual Run. A sweet friend even made them homemade medals. Read more of Karla's story and what makes her — and her daughter — #MOTRstrong.

Moms on the Run National Fitness Director, Olympian Carrie Tollefson, regularly shares training tips to help us strengthen our running, fitness and health, and today she talks about modeling fitness with our families. At Moms on the Run, our vision is to help women lead healthier lives and model active lifestyles to inspire the next generation of healthy families. When our kids see us getting ready to head out for a run or doing stretches in front of the TV or eating something healthy, that tells them our bodies are important. Right now, we are in the middle of our Virtual Run. This can be a solo activity, a way for you to get those miles in, or it can be a family walk or run, where they do it with you. Getting your kids involved in some exercises and making it fun for them can give them a lifelong love of it. ![]() In this season of shelter-at-home orders, school closings, playgrounds being roped off, layoffs, toilet paper shortages and more, we continue to see the good: Neighbors helping neighbors, technology saving the day with virtual learning and workouts, more time with our families. One advantage to the sport of running is that, as people seek activities they can do outdoors, running is gaining in popularity. As our northern region of Moms on the Run locations start their spring training seasons in the midst of a pandemic, we offered eight reasons why we think women should join us: 1. You NEED to move your body. Physical activity has so many health benefits and even social distancing encourages outdoor exercise! 2. You NEED something to look forward to. 3. You NEED an amazing community to rely on. Community is not a luxury, but a necessity. 4. You NEED fun in your life! Even if the first few weeks of classes happen virtually, there is still FUN planned: happy hours, coffee chats, and workouts will all be on the calendar.* 5. You NEED time for yourself more during this season than any other. 6. You NEED to spend time outdoors. Spending time outside boosts your immunity, decreases anxiety, increases energy, and improves your sleep - just to name a few! 7. You NEED something on the schedule. Structured classes help you remember what day it is. 8. You NEED to find an activity you can do solo, so there’s never been a better time to learn to run. We know our community at Moms on the Run is #MOTRstrong, but we asked our members, "Can you help us with more reasons" why women should join us during a pandemic. Here is what some of our members had to say: ![]() In light of all the recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Moms on the Run want to share uplifting stories about what our members are doing to stay active, to continue to crush goals, and to remain in community as a team. When your teammate is retiring during a pandemic, you find creative ways to show up to celebrate her — social distancing, of course. Bloomington Moms on the Run member Jan Gustafson reached a life milestone this month, retiring from her job at Cray, Inc. after 32 years. To celebrate Jan, her Bloomington team surprised her at home with some fun goodies, messages and a car parade of honking horns. ![]() Our friends at Run N Fun are open for curbside pick-up and ship-out.
