When moms are thrown into crisis with a child who is critically or chronically ill, or face the diagnosis of a child with special needs, their entire focus goes into doing everything they can for their child. Along the way, moms tend to lose themselves, and the idea of self-care becomes non-existent. That's where Heart Strides, a national nonprofit organization, steps in — literally. Heart Strides provides new running shoes to moms caring for children with a critical/chronic illness or a special need, removing the barriers to self-care and arming moms with the message that they matter.
WJXT Channel 4 in Jacksonville, Fla., featured Jacksonville Moms on the Run, one of the newest franchises in our Moms on the Run family, on its News 4 Jax morning show on January 29. The show's executive producer was intrigued after driving around town and noticing a Moms on the Run window wrap on the back of a vehicle. Owner Amy Magdalein did a fantastic job sharing the details and benefits of Moms on the Run. Watch the news clip here.
307 points! That was the winning score from this year's Healthy Holiday Challenge and it was earned by Debi Jacovetz from Minneapolis Moms on the Run. She has earned a $100 prize pack: gear of her choice from the Moms on the Run merchandise store. More importantly than the prize, Debi is proud to walk away from the challenge ten pounds down! She says although she was trying to lose weight, she had recently plateaud and was not expecting these kinds of results. She credits being cognizant of her food choices as the real difference maker.
