2022 MOTR 5K/10K/Kids Run Recap
More than 250 runners joined us for this year's Moms on the Run 5K/10K and Kids Run at beautiful Lake Phalen in St. Paul and online virtually. For our in-person event, the overnight rain moved out and we were greeted with perfect temps for a race! If you ran with us, you can find your race results here. We also have a Google photo album to which you can upload your race photos for us to use and maybe find a photo of you!
The race featured fun for the whole family. The kids were able to take part in face painting, crazy hair and sign making (yay, moms!), before their own 1/2 mile "Run with an Olympian" and kiddie dash. Our after-party included prizes courtesy of Run n Fun, Rachel Baar with BeautyCounter and Norwex, Author and Coach Gabe Cox, UCAN and new Moms on the Run merchandise. We loved the fun food trucks: Inferno Wood Fire Pizza, Powl (smoothies and acai bowls), and Cookie Dough Bliss. And a big thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly. We're grateful for you!
Thank you to our generous sponsors. Summit Orthopedics, the official sports medicine partner of Moms on the Run, who provided our medical tent coverage. Summit provides the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota with comprehensive orthopedic care. Visit summitortho.com to find all of their walk-in clinics and more.
Thank you also to Run N Fun /TC Running Company, who generously provided a location for our in-person packet pickup as well as prizes; UCAN, for supplying much needed energy and nutrition for our runners; Kowalski's for supplying all the water, and GoGo squeeZ, for giving our kids a fun snack! We appreciate you!
We also named our 2022 Most Inspirational Member of the Year! We have so many inspiring members at Moms on the Run — and this year’s nominees were no exception. We chose 2022’s Most Inspirational Member of the Year, St. Paul-Highland member Libby Starling, because of her dedication to running and the inspiration she is to her teammates.
Alicia Waeffler, St. Paul Franchise Owner and Coach, shared Libby “consistently shows up for our MOTR team and herself. She is an inspiration and we’re all so proud of her amazing accomplishment.”
That accomplishment started when the pandemic began and the world shut down in March 2020. Libby started running one mile every day. It got her out of the house and gave her something to do until life returned to normal. Ha! (Is it normal yet...?) Her running streak lasted 715 days — that’s just 15 days shy of 2 years.
Libby did this all the way up to when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of this year. We are thankful to report she is in remission and ran our 10K! Libby has been a member of St. Paul Moms on the Run since it opened in 2012 — 11 summer seasons. Congratulations, Libby!
